Adriana was first introduced to the study and practice of agroecology after participating in a series of practicums and a short course on agroecology at UC Santa Cruz. As a member of the Friends of the Community Agroecology Network (FoCAN), Adriana organized cross cultural food systems events and taught about commodity chains and alternatives to fair trade coffee with student organizations. Upon graduating from UC Santa Cruz, Adriana came on board as the first PAN policy fellow, working alongside our policy director in Sacramento. Following her PAN Fellowship, Adriana spent two and a half years studying in Chiapas, Mexico and conducting fieldwork in El Salvador. Adriana holds a Masters in Science in Natural Resource Management and Rural Development from Colegio de la Frontera Sur (Ecosur), where she formed part of a massification of agroecology working group. Adriana is a native Spanish speaker.
