Pesticides vs Clean Water

The president of the Mosquito and Vector Control Association of California recently said that the state is "facing one of the harshest mosquito seasons in years," and federal regulations are making the situation worse.  Starting January 1, mosquito control technicians are required to test standing water at least 24 hours before applying pesticides, a process the association says eats scarce man hours and allows larvae to turn into mosquitoes. Critics say we shouldn't rush to add pesticides to our water when there's only been one reported case of West Nile Virus in humans this year.
