A coalition of community and environmental groups protested outside the Fresno County Agriculture Commissioner's office Thursday over the recent use of the controversial fumigant methyl iodide.
More than 20 protesters urged county officials to prohibit the chemical from being used again in Fresno County.
"Methyl iodide does not belong in California. It does not belong around farms and farmworkers. ... It does not belong around any of us," said Paul Towers, state director of Pesticide Watch Education Fund.
