On Virtual Grantmaking Day, IDD invites donors to support one or more international grassroots projects posted on its Web site. Focuses on three areas of World Wildlife Fund’s Toxic Chemicals Initiative: endocrine disruptors, persistent organic pollutants (POPs) and agricultural pesticides. Includes information on history and development of toxic chemical science, an overview of WWF’s work in the field, a recommended reading list, recommendations for minimizing exposure to such chemicals and alternatives to the use of toxic chemicals. *Reducing Pesticides in Schools: How two elementary schools control common pests using integrated pest management strategies, 1998* Community Environmental Council. Examines arguments for IPM and identifies key factors of successful implementation. Provides two examples of Santa Barbara schools with IPM programs in place. Offers recommendations for countywide implementation as well as suggestions for starting school IPM programs in other areas. *Pesticides in Fruits and Vegetables, 1998.* University Science Books. Provides step-by-step instructions for the analysis of organochlorine pesticide residues in produce using the method developed by the California Department of Food and Agriculture. Presents an overview of pesticide regulations and tolerances, the basics of risk assessment, and impacts of organochlorine pesticides on human health. Written as an introductory college-level laboratory text, the book includes technical sections on the chemical principles behind methods used to measure pesticide residues and data interpretation.
