A new study on glyphosate in pregnant women from Indiana confirms that this widely used herbicide ends up in people’s bodies. The findings also suggest that prenatal glyphosate exposure may be linked to shorter pregnancies.

Hawai‘i is poised to enact historic pesticide protective legislation this year. SB3095 aims to establish no-spray buffer zones around schools, require mandatory disclosure of pesticide spray, and ban the brain-harming pesticide chlorpyrifos.

PAN is joining farmworkers and farmworker advocates around the country as they celebrate National Farmworker Awareness Week (March 25 - 31).  I would like to invite you to participate by putting the focus on the individuals who plant, cultivate, and harvest our food. Together, we can share and promote the continued work to eliminate a long legacy of injustice in our food and farming systems.

This week, we join farmworkers and farmworker advocates around the country in celebrating progress towards eliminating a long legacy of injustice. It’s National Farmworker Awareness week, and though a huge amount work remains, these are a few programs, organizations and policy wins to lift up and recognize as making strides towards creating a fair, just food system for all.

The vast majority of farmworkers in the U.S. are immigrants, and at least half of them are undocumented. We depend on these many immigrants, who have come in search of a better life, for our nation’s abundant and safe food supply.

The Bayer-Monsanto merger has hit a roadblock in the U.S. The agribusiness giants have been waiting for the Department of Justice (DoJ) to approve the business coupling, but last week the department’s antitrust division revealed worries that the merger could hurt competition, and they don’t think Bayer’s proposed plan to sell off some businesses before the deal is finalized goes far enough.
